Flora by Melanie Potter
Flora Necklace in Gold colorway
Gold Colorway

Inspired by the small flowers in African violets, Melanie created this floral necklace incorporating a variety of techniques and unique supplies.  As well as being fun to bead and having a lot of variety, Flora is also a very wearable design.

The small flowers are stitched in chevron chain.  You bead them separate fromthe main necklace like beaded beads.  They all use a number of color combinations in eachflower to add to the dimensional feel of the flower sections.  The little African Violet beaded flowers are then woven onto a lattice panel with faceted crystals embedded in the center of each. Each panel of flowers is attached using decorative toggle bars encased with peyote stitch. The necklace part is made of a rolled fine knitted metal mesh looped around the last panels and terminating with a floral clasp stitched in tubular peyote with a hidden magnetic closure inside.

This is a great design to learn a lot of different techniques and get a lot of variety.  It wears very well with a lot of flexibility for how long you would like to make it.  The magnetic clasp is very easy to put on as well and makes the daily wearing a breeze.  You will love making Flora and showing it off daily or even for your bead socials with that special outfit!

Melanie's instructions for Flora are exceptional! You will be taken through the processes of the various components step by step with her. All the little parts you will bead up are fun and different, and she has really nice diagrams for each of them as you go through the project.
